Don’t Let a Breakdown Ruin Your Road Trip

Picture this: You’re 250 miles into a cross-country adventure, windows down, playlist blasting, when the check-engine light flickers on. The nearest Ford dealer is 90 minutes away, and your F-150 needs an overnight stay in the shop. Without the right protection, you’re staring at a $180 hotel tab, $75 in meals, and a $40 rideshare bill—on top of the repair. Enter Ford Protect Trip Interruption Coverage, the unsung sidekick that turns “nightmare” into “minor detour.”

What Exactly Does It Cover?

If your vehicle is disabled by a covered mechanical breakdown or if you are in an accident and you’re more than 100 miles from home, Ford Protect reimburses:

  • Lodging: Up to $100/night
  • Meals: Up to $25/person per day
  • Alternative transportation: (shuttle, rental upgrade, or rideshare)
  • Maximum benefit: $1,000 per occurrence, up to 5 days.:

That’s enough to keep a family of four fed, rested, and rolling for the better part of a week.

Which Plans Include It?

Every Ford Protect Extended Service Plan—PremiumCARE, ExtraCARE, BaseCARE, and PowertrainCARE—bundles trip interruption at no extra cost. Buy the cheapest PowertrainCARE plan and you still get the same $1,000 safety net as the top-tier PremiumCARE owner.

Real Claims That Saved the Day

Yellowstone National Park, 2024: A family’s Expedition threw a transmission code 400 miles from home. Ford Protect paid $720 for two hotel nights, $250 in meals, and a $90 shuttle to Old Faithful. Total out-of-pocket? $0.

Florida to Maine haul: An F-250 turbo actuator failed in Virginia. The $940 claim (three nights + meals) was approved while the truck was still on the lift.
